ULTEM® 4001
ULTEM™ 4001: wear‑resistant PEI for demanding applications
A PEI optimized for friction and wear
ULTEM™ 4001 is a SABIC™ polyetherimide grade incorporating PTFE as an internal lubricant. This formulation lowers friction and enhances wear resistance while preserving the inherent stiffness and heat resistance of PEI.
Thermal stability and mechanical performance
The material offers reliable mechanical performance at continuous service temperatures around 170 °C, with short‑term exposure up to approximately 190 °C, and good creep resistance.
Electrical insulation and fire performance
ULTEM™ 4001 is electrically insulating and achieves UL94 V‑0 and 5VA flammability ratings, supporting use in safety‑critical environments.
