VESPEL® SCP-5050
VESPEL® SCP‑5050: polyimide for high loads and extreme temperatures
An advanced polyimide for severe operating conditions
VESPEL® SCP‑5050 is a DuPont™ high‑performance polyimide engineered to deliver superior wear resistance, thermal stability and oxidation resistance compared to conventional polyimides.
Dimensional stability and metal compatibility
With a coefficient of thermal expansion close to steel, SCP‑5050 ensures stable tolerances in metal‑polymer assemblies and maintains performance under repeated thermal cycling.
Tribological performance and durability
The material provides low friction, excellent unlubricated wear resistance and high load‑bearing capability at continuous service temperatures up to around 260 °C.
