VICTREX® PEK G-45: a high-viscosity PEK for extreme environments

VICTREX® PEK G-45 is a polyetherketone (PEK) polymer belonging to the PAEK family, developed for applications requiring reliable mechanical performance at high temperatures and exceptional chemical resistance. Its high melt viscosity makes it particularly suitable for the manufacture of large-section parts or solid components, where other engineering polymers have processing limitations.
Compared to PEEK grades, PEK G-45 offers greater stability of mechanical properties at high temperatures, making it a suitable choice for demanding continuous-use thermal environments.

Thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties

VICTREX® PEK G-45 stands out for:
  • excellent thermal stability, with continuous operating temperatures up to 180°C and possible peaks of 240°C,
  • very high chemical resistance to solvents, hydrocarbons, acids, and bases,
  • stable mechanical strength under load and in compression,
  • interesting insulating properties for certain electrical applications.
These properties ensure reliable performance in environments where component durability and system safety are critical.

Industrial Applications of VICTREX® PEK G-45

  • structural components exposed to heat
  • electrical insulation and technical components
  • equipment for chemical processing
  • aerospace and automotive applications with high thermal requirements
For applications requiring low friction or optimized tribology, a specialized PEEK grade such as VICTREX™ PEEK 450FE20 will be more suitable.

Transformation and implementation

Thanks to its high viscosity, VICTREX® PEK G‑45 is particularly well-suited for the manufacture of thick semi-finished products and complex technical parts. It can be processed using:
  • extrusion
  • injection molding,
  • precision machining of extruded parts.
